Grand knight: Thank you to Larry Spellerberg for organizing and leading breakfast fundraisers, and thank you to Joe Henkels for organizing the upcoming Intervisions dinner dance.
District deputy report: Even with 1,200 new Knights this past year, there was only a net gain of 15. We need to keep recruitment up. 2nd/3rd degree ceremonies planned: Saturday, September 21 in Marshalltown, October 13 at St. Mary’s in Pella, and October 20 at St. Francis in West Des Moines. Dennis presented our council with Columbian Award recognizing our 2018/2019 service hours.
Treasurer’s Report: $10,549 in checking (several bills yet to pay – NCYC Youth Group breakfast proceeds $668, Tootsie Role PID drive proceeds $2,894 (not finalized) this leaves ~$6,000 available in checking), $16,967 in CD, and $7,106 in Bill Geneser scholarship fund.
Thank you notes received from Ralph Shalefle (Hot Rods and Hogs – he had the black Myustang) and the “Friends of VA Therapy Garden”.
Intervisions dinner dance Saturday, September 28th. Setup 8 AM Saturday.
Report on NCYC youth group fundraiser breakfast: Very good help from youth group. We went through 23 dozen eggs, 15 pounds of meat, 160 tortillas. $668 profit.
Next breakfast is planned for October 13th. We discussed where to allocate the proceeds. Travis made a motion to have the next breakfast benefit the youth group. Mike seconded the motion; motion passed. Other ideas for future breakfast proceeds were Ghana scholarships, and Joppa.
Several knights (Scott, Joe, Wayde, and Phil) helped move Dennis Steele into a new home.
Father Dominic’s treadmill has been replaced. Thank you to those who helped.
Joppa dinner will be one day earlier this year due to scheduling issues.
Brenda indicated that she would like to make the gym available for rent if we do not need it for meetings. We discussed this, and this is OK as long as the kitchen is still accessible during our meetings.
Paul Martin has Retired – Congratulations Paul!
We have been assigned some hospitality weekends. This may be an opportunity for recruitment. This could also be accompanied by a pulpit talk about the Knights of Columbus.
Next officers meeting is scheduled for October 19th at the food depot.
Steve Tatz is once again our Knights of Columbus Field Agent.
Meeting adjourned 8:15 PM
