October 2017 Minutes
Knights of Columbus Meeting October 19, 2017.
7:35 PM meeting called to order.
Officer role call – Not present were: Grand Knight (Kendall Geneser), warden (Chris Kitt), lecturer (Dec. Tom Schenk), advocate (Joe Fernandez), treasurer (Paul Martin), and financial secretary (Steve Rodrigues).
Dave Watznauer made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes; seconded by Ken Welch; motion passed.
Chaplains Message: Father talked about the upcoming Gospel this weekend. “Pay to Cesar what belongs to Cesar. Pay to God what belongs to God.” Give to God our bodies; our time, and talent.
Great job on the last pancake breakfast. Next breakfast (benefiting the social justice committee) will be breakfast burritos on November 12th. Trunk or Treat is planned for Sunday, October 29th from 3-5 PM. We are providing hot dogs. Come and bring your cameras.
No financial report due to absences.
Bike ride report: Shannon Godwin. 40 participants. It was nice to see some new faces. 33 shirts were sold for $2 profit. $160 was spent on food. $80 from Knights and $80 from marketing committee. Jodi Bermel made a motion to approve the $80, and Joe Henkels seconded the motion, motion passed.
Fish fry shack is framed. Metal will be going on tomorrow (Dave Watznauer).
Kellie Markey thanks us the $1,000 donation. We asked about current needs, and she said that the greenhouse needs heat. Dave Nixon’s company will run natural gas to the greenhouse. Some help will be needed for the 85 feet of trenching required. We will likely have a work day one week from this Saturday. Kellie also mentioned that Dorothy’s house now has permission to receive minor children who need help.
Bingo is going well. Bingo is held on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 2 – 3:30 PM.
4 new tables will be purchased from Sam’s Club.
1st degree ceremonies planned for next year: March 15th, June 21st, September 20th, and December 20th.
The harvest barn dance and auction is coming up November 4th. Please promote and support this church fundraiser. Tickets are $35 each.
Deacon Dennis Wright thanked us for supporting his mission at the Women’s correctional facilities, and asked us to continue our support. Jodi Bermel made a motion to allocate $600 to support Deacon Dennis’ mission. Joe Henkels seconded the motion. This motion was over $500, so it will be brought up again and voted on at the next meeting.
Jodi Bermel brought up the idea of having a fun bag tournament in the gym. This could be during a football game. We could watch the game and have chicken wings and etc. during the tournament. Think about this idea.
