June 2017 Minutes
Knights of Columbus Meeting June 15, 2017.
7:30 PM meeting called to order. Meeting was at Granger American Legion due to gym tile floor work.
Officer role call – Not present were: warden (Chris Kitt), lecturer (Dec. Tom Schenk), and trustee (Travis Risvold), deputy grand knight (Jodi Bermel), and financial secretary (Steve Rodrigues).
Marty Herrmann made a motion to waive the reading of the minutes; seconded by Joe Fernandez; motion passed.
Paul Martin gave the financial report: $9.776 in checking (2,000 for K of C scholarships not withdrawn yet). $15,000 in CD. $541.49 tootsie pop proceeds, 10% to go to ultrasound initiative. Marty Herrmann motioned to send the remaining proceeds to Intervisions Clinic. The motion was seconded by John Sims; motion passed.
There will be a Corpus Christi procession after the masses this weekend. This will involve a procession around the church grounds. Father Dominic is encouraging participation! We will have a K of C honor guard for the 10:00 AM Mass.
Election of officers. We still need to find a deputy grand knight. Dale Limoges agreed to take over the Chancellor position which has been held by Merlin Wiese. This was motioned by Hoe Henkels and seconded by Joe Fernandez; motion passed. Joe Henkels motioned to approve all other positions as is, Paul Martin seconded the motion; motion passed.
Joe Henkels talked about the progress in making tiny village idea a reality. Check Kendall’s E-mail for ways to get involved. Intervisions banquet went well. Thank you for your help with the demolition in the school. Framing is commencing. There will then be a pause for the electrical and plumbing led by Joe and Dave.
There will be an officer’s meeting Saturday morning 8:45 at The Food Depot. Thank you to American Legion Post 717 for the use of the hall at no charge.
We will pass out the 100 “Into The Breech” booklets that we purchased this weekend after the masses. We two guys at each mass to pass them out.
At our last meeting we approved sending $500 to The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal for funding coffee purchase at the mission. The Franciscan Friars are not able to accept monetary donations for this sort of purchase. They can, however, receive donations of the coffee itself. Joe Fernandez made a motion to allow Ken Welch use the approved $500 to purchase the coffee for the Franciscan Friars. Marty Herrmann seconded the motion; motion passed.
Pancake breakfast is planned for Granger Days August 26th.
High trestle bridge bike ride and picnic in Madrid planned committee will work on making this happen.
Paul Goheen has moved away. Paul and his wife have lost 3 of their parents in the last year as well as a younger brother to suicide. We need to do a better job of communicating these things.
Hot Rods & Hogs as CPID Tootsie Roll fundraiser will be on August 5th.
Spiritual Faith Formation – Tom Letsch: Planned programs include a series of the Acts of the Apostles, Happy Hours programs during Advent, and a Parish retreat. Someone from the Matthew Kelly organization will come to the retreat. There will be a fundraiser in January. These programs are all made possible by donations.
Dave Watznauer reported that the boy scout tent used during the fish fray season needed to be replaced. The cost was $68. We would like to make a more permanent structure for the frying station. We discussed the structure, and concerns were raised about construction permits that may be needed and insurance liability. We decided to table the discussion until the details of this plan could be run through the proper channels to make sure it is done properly. This project will be over $500 final approval cannot be made at this meeting anyway.
Dale Lemoges presented the need to purchase a simple CD player for ceremonies. Joe Fernandez made a motion to approve this purchase; Marty Herrmann seconded the motion; motion passed.
There will be no mass at the July meeting as Father Dominic will be in Ghana.
Bob Mullenbach informed us that the building and grounds committee is looking for new members.
